Italika
Founded in 2005 Italika has since been producing motorcycles in Toluca, Mexico. By producing small displacement motorcycles and scooters they have gained a large share of the local market. Recently they revised their Deportiva RT sportbike line with modern styling, and some nice feature upgrades. The Deportiva group currently consists of two bikes—the RT200GP, and the RT250 Sport.
Both Deportivas have faring integrated front blinkers, a steel 16L fuel tank, single disc two piston axial hydraulic front brake, single piston hydraulic rear disc, 17" five spoke wheels, preload adjustable mono shock rear suspension, non-adjustable telescopic hydraulic front suspension, removable rear sets, higher quality switch gear (looks like Domino), carbureted four stroke air-cooled engines, and are available in red or black liveries.
RT250 Sport
At about $2600 USD the RT250 Sport employs an inverted fork for a stiffer front end, and better handling. A claimed 17.3HP is produced by the engine, with a six speed transmission. The wheels are slightly wider on the Sport with a 110/70-17 tire up front, and a 140/70-17 found on the rear. A nice selection of tires are available in these sizes making it convenient to choose a combination for a wide number of riding styles.
RT200GP
Italika's RT200GP retails for about $1859 USD. Its engine claims 14.7HP, with a wider ratio five speed transmission. The forks on this bike are a more traditional non-inverted style. The GP's front tire comes in at 90/80-17, and the rear follows with 130/70-17. These are typical sizes for this class of bike, and would work nicely with the Sava/Mitas MC50s.
Considering the styling, liveries, features, and affordable pricing it's easy to understand why these are popular bikes. It would be nice to see them upgraded to a radial front brake, braided lines, and non-rubberized foot pegs, but at these prices some concessions can easily be made.
