The guys from gbmotorcyles managed to modify their stock one to fit the nut. They sent a new one free of charge!!

Although the socket should have been 3mm overall bigger (so that the teeth were not so thin) It still fitted fine and it came off without any problem.

It would be interesting to see what measurements you get of the nut with it out of the bike. And those of the socket too.

Hey thanks Tora for the suggestion. The track day/Race school was worth every penny!

Was a long day being up at 5 with a teenager ahhhhhhh. Amaya was riding a CBR 125 with hired the gear. Quite a few crashes today, but not with this one. Will do the same next month!

That's AWESOME !!
Track time is usually worth the cost, especially with reasonable instructors.

Many would say you only learn about track riding, and that doesn't apply to street riding - Not true !

:D There was a massive difference from the first to the last lap.

The main reason I took her here was to get better at cornering, and to bring back some confidence after she came off. So I think that worked. Her body position and corner breaking is improving as well. As much as you try to teach them, they don't listen (being a parent) So having instructors there is what's needed. They are really good, and did a great job.

The day costs 250 with all the equipment which is noticeable in the pocket but well worth it concidering the improvement already !

So after 7 months of abuse from its owner and parts broken, I decided to give her helmet a respray.

Spaying something Matt black wasnt the easiest and I did want to add some high visible colour as well. I tried with the matt red but didnt look good, plus my first spray of the matt black turned out satin, so did it again with 7 coats giving the matt finish. I also missed some chips... so not a perfect finish but good enough1

Round 2 ..........ding ding!

Hopefully this solution will work??

Found this Heal Tech gear indicator for 109.00 including postage.

This has a speed sensor ( unlike last time), so mounted it to the front wheel. Its a bit unsightly as it would be better hidden connected to the rear wheel.

Image

The instructions are pretty good, so you know if it working correctly. I connected the wires up to the dashboard connector, but couldn't tell if the RPM signal was reaching it? The instructions said that once the bike was running the L would flash quicker for a bit to know if it was.. This I could not tell the difference between the bike on and it running???

These are one of the places you can get the signal from

Image

I used terminal 13 ( not shown connected here). If this is not the right connection then pls let me know .or where to get the other signal from???

Image

Image

I decided i would make the connections here at the back of the dashboard connector, so had to uncover the wires and disassemble the front mount.

Image

After seeing the size of the connectors and the length of cable I had to play with I decided that the positive and ground would come off the ignition barrel , same as the other instruments I fitted.

Image

This left me space then to fit the rpm signal connection

Image

So with everything connected again .. I think its all working????

Image

If anyone notices anything then pls let me know cheers

The wiring I did looked pretty rank, so redid it so that it was more hidden. I made some custom bracts behind the mudguard then used cable ties. some nice metal clips woudl had been nice but didnt have them to hand at the time.
