Hey Tora,

In your farkle post you added an NG disc brake.. I cant see anything else thats available or that I like so im looking to get one.

In a lot of websites they are 180 - 200 euros depending upon where you look but ive found one for 84 euros at Inmoto

My question is: Do you know if they are all the same colour ie 'RED' as a lot of the pictures are yellow .

I've been onto the NG website and just seems to be the same model 1103 listed and nothing to differentiate the colours if they do

As you got one just wondered if you came across this or not?

Cheers

2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project: Disc Purchases

Brixiamoto, the one you linked, is the eBay seller from whom I bought both of my NG 1103 discs. The other NGs that I've bought, the more traditional styles, I got from EasyParts.

The color is a bit of a floro red/orange. I've not seen it available in any other colors. There are bunches of photos of it in both the Red Rocket, and DRP threads.

These will work on the GPRs from 2005, and the RSes from 2006. To remove the bolts use heat to loosen up the Loctite, otherwise the bolts will break. At installation use Loctite to seal the bolts.

Ah ok,

Just saw In moto at the top of the page.......yes I did see it on your other threads and know that one is a floro red colour, not sure why the show it in yellow sometimes??

At 85 quid I was going to respray it to match the red of the Bike. Can the floating center be removed or are these riveted on ( the parts in black)

better then 200 quid and not matching. thanks

2018 Aprilia RS4 50 Euro 4 Upgrade Project: Colors

Yes the spider can be removed from the disc. They are held together with clips. I didn't find the color displeasing for either of my bikes, and the finish is top notch. In this case it might be best just to use it as delivered.

Quite a few parts arrived in the post .. It was a bit like Christmas

Image

The Bundle included:

Domino soft hand grips £27.00 on ebay

Race Air Filter, closest I could find to a K&N one !This was from Omniaracing for 42.00 euros

Phone holder from ebay for 14.25 Euros, seems to be pretty good quality and sturdy

Phone Charger from ebay. this was for 15.56 euros and comes with a switch and a fuse that a lot of others were missing.

Puig smoked race screen from Sportsbikeshop for £73.92. I ordered the carbon effect one but later told it was discontinued so brought the smoked glass one instead. This still needed the OEM sticker, this was only 6 euros for the dealership.

Comparing the stock windscreen to the race one , it certainly should deflect a bit more of the wind.

Getting the gromets out of the old one was a bit tough.. trying not to damage them. Decals went on ok and only a few very small air bubles.
Image

Not bad looking

The left grip was easy to take off, the right not. so ended up cutting it off, Everything just about fitted
Image

Installation of the charger and phone holder was ok, but very tight.. Had to do it several times to fit it all.
Image

The right grip was a nightmare to get on and was a bit short. I adjusted the lever guard to hide this fact. With the domino grips there is a small red lip at the end , I cut it off which worked for the left but for the right should had kept it on.. made a bit of a mess cutting it.. so may go and buy another one to put on.

Round 2 ding ding..

Managed to re order it from motoscoot for 265.00 euros.
Will take a chance by painting it first as now I I can reverse the process... but this time masking of the adjoining faces.

One question I had was In the standard head the thermostat was fixed inside but cant see where it would go on the metrakit? Can you take off the stock and put on the metrakit or so you need to order another type or simply not have one at all??? hummm

I would say "thhrawdatshitttout", I always remove them. If it wont open just once and you can throw out your cylinder. If you remove it the warmup process will be longer but less electronic that can fail. So in 3 word, throw it out :) but thats for you to decide. I wouldnt use it. I had very bad luck with them in the begginings.

The thermostat is really not important. Just make sure to warm up the bike before you go for a ride. What I was doing is start up the bike and drink a coffee, eat breakfast or something. Mine needed 10-5mins to warm up depending on the condition. But it depends on the setup too. After it warmed up you can start riding(or she) but make sure you stay in low-lowmid rpm range for max a 5 mins. This should be the proper warmup process without thermostat. It needs time but worth it. If you do it properly it shouldnt seize if the carb setting are right too.

I'm on the other side of this I guess.

I like a thermostat, and have never had one fail and do any damage to an engine.

The thermostat is designed to speed-up getting to operating temp (I never let any of my engines warm-up more than a minute or 2 before taking off - moderately) and hold a consistent engine temp in changing conditions.

Seems like a good idea to me.

Next time I see my pro race-engine builder friend I'll ask him what his thoughts are on the subject.
