The Red Power: Back to Malossi
It was time to work on the Malossi bike today.
This bike had a leaky petcock. The track bike had a good donor petcock, because I had another one for the track bike.
Drained out the fuel from the track bike—pre-mix is so pretty.
Here's the fancy petcock on the Track bike.
The older petcocks were made by Paioli. I don't know who made the newer ones, but they aren't quite a nice.
Some photos of the PHBG to illustrate where the oil feed goes.
The Malossi with a Red tank.
From Germany with Love: We ordered some Ferodo brake pads for the bikes for GPR Camp. A place in Germany was able to get them—the local shops didn't seem able to do so. They would have gotten here in time, but the routing sticker got pulled off and the shippers don't know how to read a mailing label any more! Still they made it, so the bikes will be stopping a little better in the future.

The Red Power: What's a Moped?
It's funny how some folks get their panties all bunched up because you post about 50cc bikes on a moped foro. And it really doesn't matter if it is or isn't a moped they'll just get nasty because, well they have nothing better to do—or so it seems. The Derbi GPR shipped to the states comes with the word moped stamped on to the bike no less than three times. It's also printed in the manual numerous times. You'd think this would be enough that the naysayers would chill, but no. lolz

The Red Power: GPR World Domination!
My efforts to have the world dominated by Derbi GPRs has yet again made progress. It's no secret that I've been letting Richard ride around on the Silver GPR. Most recently he got to ride it at GPR Camp. I think this was the third of forth ride he'd been out on riding the GPR. Well yesterday he picked up a GPR75 for himself! Welcome to the brotherhood!
This is almost exactly the same as my first GPR which eventually became known as the Red bike—a life changing experience to be sure.

What a cool photo. This is very much the direction I had planed for the Red bike. I got all the way to the paint once—hopefully I'll get another chance at it.

The Red Power: The Ferodo Connection FDB706, and FRP405
I've done a fair amount of experimenting with various brake pads for the GPRs and for the Cagiva version these Ferodo pads are the best I've found. For the front the FDB706-P. The P is for platinum, which is the only version these come in. Sadly these are not available in a sintered pad. For the rear we have the FRP405-ST. In this case the ST is the label for sintered, which is the way to go with these pads.

The Red Power: The Livery
Here's another Derbi photo which illustrates how I wanted to paint the red bike. This is Youichi Ui on his Derbi 125 GP bike. Derbi did sell a replica of this livery. It even came with red wheels, but they were of course the 16" wheels, and it was on the older Cagiva plastics. They never put it out with the later 2002 plastics, which would have looked great as they were designed to look like this bike!

The Red Power: Hopping about
Even though I've done it a lot I'm still amazed by how much you can stick into the storage area on the Cagiva Derbis.
